# Move COPY to a new phone

Your recovery key brings your friends and channels back.

Install COPY on the new phone and enter your [recovery key](https://getcopy.app/help/recovery-key). Your friends and channels come back.

## Restore

1. Install COPY.
2. On the welcome screen, tap **Already have a walkie? Restore it**.
3. Paste or type your 24 words and tap **Restore**.
4. In Settings, tap [**Restore Purchases**](https://getcopy.app/help/restore-purchases) to bring back devices you bought.

## What your friends see

Your recovery key restores the same COPY identity. Your friends don’t need to add you again.

## If it doesn’t work

- **“That’s not a valid 24-word recovery key.”** Check that you’ve entered all 24 words in the right order.
- **“No walkie matches this recovery key.”** Check you’re using the recovery key from your previous COPY setup. Deleted accounts can’t be restored.
